WAAS and AWOS in place

The Scappoose Jet Center and Scappoose Industrial Airpark are equipped to provide a full compliment of business aviation solutions that include a newly commissioned Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), an air navigation aid developed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The WAAS system augments the existing GPS-A and localizer/DME approaches. This allows jets to navigate, land, and takeoff safely at night or in cloudy conditions.

The runway is 5,100 feet long. Runway weight capabilities in pounds are as follows:

  • Single-wheel: 30,000
  • Double-wheel: 50,000
  • Tandem-wheel: 90,000

The Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS), pictured above right, is available by phone at 503-543-6401 or at radio frequency 135.87.
