Aviation Hangars Planned for Scappoose Jet Center

Open the Door for a Rare Opportunity

I don’t believe the old saying, “opportunity only strikes once.” I do believe that opportunity comes along only occasionally, but I also know that we can build opportunities.

In 2008 I saw a rare opportunity in Scappoose, Oregon, a community just outside Portland. I have been licensed to fly jets, turbo props, and helicopters for more than 30 years, and I’ve flown in and out of the Scappoose Industrial Airpark thousands of times. The airport’s convenient proximity to Portland and superior weather conditions — particularly in the winter — make it an attractive alternative to other municipal airports. Last, but not least, there are no landing fees, which makes it fiscally smart.

In 2008 I purchased four acres adjacent to the airport knowing that it was ideal for a new aircraft facility that would include aviation hangars for corporate and private jet aircraft.

Since then site’s infrastructure has been upgraded to include streets and sidewalks as well as full utilities (street lighting, electricity, sewer, and fiber optic cable.

There is also a private taxiway connecting future jet hangars to the airpark runway.

As the U.S. has emerged from the 2008 recession, air travel has increased, and along with it the frustrating delays with airport security and inspections. This has made travel by corporate and personal jets more convenient than ever.

Opportunity is something we build

In the next year I will begin sourcing financing and building the aviation hangars and office space that I envisioned in 2008. When the project is completed it will include:

  • 64,000 square feet of hangar space
  • 17,000 square feet of office space
  • 120-by-26-square-foot motorized doors
  • Garage doors for vehicle access
  • Pilots lounge, kitchen facilities, showers, and sleeping quarters.
